DXF & CAD TAKEOFF
Keep the drawing’s layers in your takeoff.
Use a supported ASCII DXF export to bring CAD linework into a construction estimating workflow, with quantities organised for review.
Export the right format.
Start with an ASCII DXF file. Native DWG files are not direct inputs to this parser; export the required model-space linework to DXF from your CAD application. Keep an original copy of the source drawing so your team can trace each takeoff to its revision.
Check units and geometry.
Confirm drawing units and project scale before measuring. Areas, linear distances and counts depend on the geometry in the export. Check whether symbols, curves, blocks and boundaries arrive as expected rather than assuming every CAD object has become a usable measurement.
Use layers to make the quantities readable.
Organise pavement, landscape, utilities and other sitework linework into clear layers. GeoSync AI reports supported layer quantities in square feet, acres, linear feet and counts. Check duplicate geometry and open boundaries before using a total.
Connect mapped survey linework.
KML and KMZ linework can also be imported into the project workflow. Review the coordinate conversion and alignment against known points. A shared coordinate frame helps keep field observations and drawing measurements together.
